VIDEO: ‘We Can Trust Our Neighbors’
“The people who run our elections are our neighbors,” says Committee of Seventy President & CEO Lauren Cristella. “They’re the people in our community who step up twice a year, every year, to serve in the important roles as poll workers.”
Pennsylvania utilizes about 45,000 poll workers to staff 9,000 voting locations in communities across the state on Election Day. These dedicated friends, neighbors and co-workers – people from both parties – put in long hours, and they take their commitment to protecting our elections seriously.
“Our poll workers and election officials receive comprehensive training to ensure that they’re following every law that’s on the books and that there’s accountability from both parties in the process,” Cristella said.
“Everyday Pennsylvanians ensure that our elections are free, fair, safe and secure,” Cristella said. “We can trust our neighbors, they’re in our communities, and they are accountable to our election officials in each county as well.”
